MARCUS, as a co-founder and Artistic Director of DuffleBag, can regularly be found travelling across North America, as well as overseas. He is a graduate of the English and Drama program at Western University. Marcus played Captain Kirk in A Celebration of Star Trek during its 5 year run. He also won a Brickenden Award for Best Male Actor as Serge in the play ART. Marcus has also been the Director of the Lighthouse Festival Young Company in Port Dover for over 15 seasons.He says he has the best job in the whole world making people laugh because it never feels like work. Marcus also likes playing hockey, reading Batman comics, and eating hamburgers.
Rod Keith, General Manager
As fellow co-founder and General Manager, ROD has travelled almost everywhere that DuffleBag has gone, at least once. In his hometown of London, Rod has written and performed several live 'episodes' of 70's TV cop show spoof Chelsea & Boggs, bringing everything from car chases and parachute jumps to hang-gliding and underwater scuba battles onstage. Other personal creations include the comedy Blow Hard, about two bubble-gum comic-strip creators, and Fire of the Mind, a drama about Victorian schizophrenic cat artist Louis Wain. Fun roles include Mr. Spock in A Celebration of Star Trek, and C-3P0 in William Shakespeare's Star Wars. Rod has two cats, a dog, and two children at home, including a son eyeing his dad's place in DuffleBag already.
HOLLY has performed theatre for young audiences for over 12 years. In her seventh season with DuffleBag, her favourite Duff show is Les trois mousquetaires. Originally from Montreal, Quebec, she studied Professional Theatre at Dawson College. After moving to Toronto, Holly did the Improv Program and the Conservatory Program at Second City. She speaks English, French and German, and is working on adding Italian and Spanish to that list. Besides languages, Holly likes reading, exercising, drawing, animals, nature and Hallowe’en. Holly has shared an office with real astronauts at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, has been stand-up paddleboarding with Beluga whales in Churchill, Manitoba, and has performed DuffleBag in Malaysia, Singapore and Haida Gwaii.
CHRIS has been with DuffleBag since 2004. He was born and raised in the GTA and studied acting at George Brown College. His favourite DuffleBag show is Romeo and Juliet. As an actor, he loves ALL Shakespeare and often tours Ontario during summer months performing the Bard's classics in rural communities. Chris is an avid lover of music and plays 5 instruments, when he's not watching superhero movies or dreaming about what Star Wars movies he'll get to see in the next few years.
Born in London Ontario, MEGHAN has toured coast-to-coast and overseas with DuffleBag Theatre since 2007. However, she was first pulled into a DuffleBag show as a grade 7 student, which makes the eldest cast members feel even older. When she's not perfecting her pratfalls, Meghan can be found touring her own shows on the Canadian Fringe Theatre circuit, having performed in the London, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Victoria Fringes. Meghan has been trying to perfect a recipe for “extreme chocolate” Rice Krispies treats for some time now.
STEVEN likes to make funny noises. Steven likes to travel to new and exciting places. Steven likes to meet interesting people. What better way to do ALL those things than to tour with The Nearly World-Famous DuffleBag Theatre? Other interesting things about Steven: he likes black & white movies, he likes to wear blue jeans, and he loves his fat black cat, Molly.
Michael Bennett Leroux
MICHAEL loves making people laugh. He also loves writing and improving songs on the spot, and playing his guitar. To date, he has written 40 songs and 10 comedy songs. He was born in Parry Sound but has lived all over Ontario. Beginning acting after high school, when he joined Theatre Cambrian in Sudbury, Michael is a graduate of the Toronto Film School and the Second City Conservatory Program. Michael loves reading, listening to music, and running. Since 2006, he has toured all across Canada and the United States performing in shows for young audiences. His favourite DuffleBag show is Cendrillon (the bilingual version of “Cinderella”) because he loves playing the evil Stepmother.
MARLA loves to perform with DuffleBag Theatre! She also enjoys working as a clown, a juggler and a teacher, leading workshops in Improv, Storytelling, Spoken Word Poetry, Body Percussion and Juggling. When Marla is not on the road touring or in classrooms teaching, she is having fun in Los Angeles writing stories, riding her bike and practicing yoga on the beach!
RICHARD is a proud Métis man who has been with DuffleBag since 2013. Richard has a BFA in Theatre Performance with a Minor in Music. He is an improviser/comedian and a singer/songwriter. He is also a certified Advanced Actor Combatant. which means he's sometimes hired to perform choreographed fight scenes on film/tv or theatre, like what you'd see on The Three Musketeers or the Bourne movies. When he's not touring with the company or sword fighting, you can find him at a Blue Jays game, eating a hotdog and cheering his face off.
ADAM is thrilled to be one of the newest members of DuffleBag. In the last year he’s been in 7 different shows and has never worn so many wigs. Other fun parts he's played are Romeo in Romeo & Juliet at the Winter Garden Theatre, an old butler in Ring Around The Moon and a football player in the Disney TV-movie How to Build A Better Boy. He's also assistant-directed at the Blyth Festival and likes to produce different plays with his friends. When not doing theatre he can found playing sports and practicing the guitar.
SAM has been with DuffleBag Theatre for 8 years and has always enjoyed working with kids. He directs with Original Kids Theatre Company. He attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Sam has a bulldog named Daisy Mae. He is afraid of butterflies and chickens... okay not really, he likes butterflies.
Sheelagh jumped on board with DuffleBag in 2013, after graduating with a Degree in Theater/Drama from the university of Toronto (Mississauga) and a Diploma in acting from Sheridan college. Always on the lookout for a new challenge, Sheelagh most recently finished an ironman triathlon and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. Next, she plans to develop her circus skills and create the worlds most delicious vegan cheesecake. Sheelagh loves cheesecake so much that she named her cat Cheesecake, Now she has trouble deciding which cheesecake she loves more.
